2020-09-18 "Outrage Creates an Opening"
About this poster: Part of the way that baldfaced lies spread so rapidly is that the outrage they inspire can keep people from checking the claim or the source. The emotion short-circuits patience, especially if it's something that makes you feel righteous or energized.
2020-09-22 "Save Your Anger for Real Danger"
About this poster: Wearing yourself out on made-up outrages puts you in state of moral exhaustion, cynical about the ability to recognize the truth or do anything about it. The fictional outrages are also comforting, because they have no effect on your life. The real ones will.
2020-09-27 "Don't Be a Bot"
About this poster: Internal evidence isn't enough. "Phishing" attacks and fabricated articles both imitate the real thing. Verify that your information is coming from who it says it is.
2021-01-03: "Facts First"
About this poster: Even strict reporting often quotes people who are giving their opinion and conjecture. Read closely to avoid swallowing opinion as fact, and take note of who's being quoted. Worst of all are the "news" outlets that freely present opinion as fact.
